My husband purchased the key chain from where he works. I charged the key chain through my laptop. After it was charged I installed the software. When I was ready to install my pictures I clicked on the desktop icon for the Photo Viewer. It said "Photo Viewer not found. Operation termined." I disconnected the keychain from the laptop via usb cable. Reinserted cable and hit update on the keychain. My laptop than added the new hardware and said it was ready to be used. The keychain was real easy to operate and I was able to put 73 pictures on my keychain.
I am going to purchase some extras for my sisters who live about 10 hours away and we will swap pictures keychains.

I recently picked up a Nextar Digital Photo Keychain. I was excited because to me, it was super cool. I was excited to show off my pictures and just thought it was a nifty idea. Sure, the price was cheap, so I just figured the quality would be cheap.
I get it on my computer... install it, try to upload a picture... and it says "Success!" I'm excited, so I look. It didn't upload anything. I try to upload again and it says "Failure!" It wouldn't upload anything. I close out of the program and try to open it. It says "No photoviewer found, program termined!" WTH? I uninstall and reinstall several times, with the same message. So I go and exchange it, not sure if its my computer or the actual thing itself.
I try again, with a different disk.. same message. I hold onto it, knowing we're reformatting the computer soon. Thinking its still my computer. We reformatted it today. Got the program installed again, uploaded one picture. Got excited thinking it was just my POS computer. Tried uploading another picture. It said "Failure!" So I close out of the program knowing full well whats going to happen. Try to open it up again, and it says the message "No photoviewer found, program termined!" Again.
So I google the "program termined". I find out I'm not the only person that has had this issue before. This guy says he contacted Nextar and they "claim do not have support info for this model number " Argh!
Why put your name on a poor product that doesn't work?

I received this NEXTAR 1.5-Inch Digital Key Chain Photo Viewer as a Christmas present. The packaging advertised this viewer as being compatible with Windows 98. It isn't compatible with Windows 98. It isn't compatible with a Macintosh computer either. I had to use my daughter's PC running Windows XP to load my photos onto this viewer. It took about 30 minutes to load 33 photos - a very slow process. I charged the viewer's battery as instructed with the enclosed USB cable. It seemed to work okay for a short time. After 2 weeks, the viewer quit - it can't be charged. I will only display photos while it is connected to a computer with a USB cable. The display fades away a few minutes after unplugging it. It is essentially worthless.

You will NOT be happy if you purchase this Nextar Digital Photo Keychain. It is cute, a good idea and would make a great gift IF the battery wasn't completely useless. It won't hold a charge and you will have to power it through your computer to look at your pictures which of course is ridiculous because if you wanted to haul your computer around to look at pictures, you would just look at them on your computer. Nextar owes everyone who purchased one of these a new battery that actually works but since they have non-existent customer support, none of us will get one.
Buggy, slow, and crashes frequently December 18, 2008

Very disappointed. It takes forever to load pictures, and I haven't had one where all the images load. Usually, it just doesn't load half of them, and some get scrambled. Seems like cheap USB hardware/firmware in the device.
Check the MFR's website to see if there is a firmware upgrade, and there is none.
Very disappointed. Definintely would not buy again.
